I’m Byron Delgado. A Creative Director , Designer, and Innovator, living in Canada.

A catalyst for innovation. I work with diverse teams of artists and creative technologists crafting immersive worlds that captivate and inspire.

15+ years working with brands , crafting digital products and interactive experiences across all mediums.

Recently, I founded FormvsFunction™ – an independent Design Driven Innovation Studio. Here, I collaborate with brands to explore, imagine and define their future vision. Combining strategy and storytelling, we deliver bespoke digital narratives and identities, designing all elements needed to create a consistent and delightful experience.

Previously, I led Spatial Design at Shopify, where my team and I explored how emerging technologies could shape the future of commerce.

My work spans product, strategy, design, and art, where I craft next-generation content that pushes the boundaries of what's possible.

FormvsFunction — Creative Direction, Design & Innovation

2023 — Present
A Design Driven Innovation Studio — exploring thoughtful visuals and future products across all mediums.

We collaborate with brands to explore, imagine and define their future vision.

Shopify — Design Lead, Spatial, R&D

2016 — 2022
Implementing strategies to integrate AR, VR, XR, 3D for the core product and across product teams, including providing ongoing company-wide guidance for spatial computing.

Led Spatial Design, Led R&D Design, Creative Direction Member, Khronos Group Member, Founded the Motion team, XR team and brought 3D to Shopifys core product and marketing. The 3D globe is showcased on the Las Vegas Sphere yearly.
Synacor — Art Director

2014 — 2016
Led Branding and Design Systems across all Synacor properties while mentoring and supporting a team of designers.

The work done on CloudID went on to be used by HBO, YoutubeTV, NBC Olympics and showcased on the Apple stage for Single Sign On for all Apple devices.
Teknision — Art Director

2011 — 2014
Led a team of designers, building apps, websites and interactive experiences for large brands in the automotive and consumer electronics industry.

I was lucky to be named in patents for the work I did with world leading brands while showcasing their products at CES and the Detroit Auto Show yearly. I also helped in the aquisition of Teknision by Synacor.
Industrial Media — Interactive Designer

2010 — 2011
Part of a two person design team crafting websites and web applications across all industries.

During this time I honed my craft and expanded on my motion skills to create award winning designs.
2010 — Beginnings

Fuel Industries, McMillan, Freelance
Prior to 2010, I worked at various Creative Agencies as both a Flash Developer and Designer Hybrid.

It was during this time that I learnt empathy for both respective roles and how to collaborate more effectively to create new innovative solutions. During the Flash days, I was lucky enough to work with brands like Sony, NBA, Nintendo, EA and more to create truly interactive web experiences.
